In recent years, the waves of Japanese enterprises gradually shifting investment capital, production facilities to Southeast Asia has increased rapidly, resulting in an interest in Intellectual Property issues in this area. To meet the demand for understanding of the field of Intellectual Property in Southeast Asia area of leading Japanese enterprises, the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) organized a training course under the name of 2019 JIPA ASEAN Training Course for studying the Law on Intellectual Property in ASEAN countries. JIPA will select one IP agent in one of the ASEAN countries to collaborate in the practice training. INVESTIP Intellectual Property Agency has been selected as a partner in cooperation and development of this training program in Vietnam.
Before JIPA’s trainees came to Vietnam to learn about Vietnam’s Intellectual Property system, on November 1st, 2019, Investip assigned their own experts to JIPA Office in Tokyo, Japan to present Vietnam IP overview including the establishment of IP rights, litigation and enforcement of IP rights, amendment to some articles of Law on Intellectual Property 2019 as well as the trends and strategies of Vietnam Intellectual Property until 2030.

During the training course in Vietnam from December 2nd-3rd, 2019, at the office of Investip Hanoi, IP experts of Investip answered questions from JIPA trainees to clarify the lecture on Vietnamese IP Law and practice presented in Tokyo. In order to increase the practicality in the training process, Investip had led JIPA trainees to contact and have seminar on Vietnamese Intellectual Property with the state management agencies on Intellectual Property such as the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IPVN), the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (VIPRI) as well as market surveys at Dong Xuan market to grasp the situation of counterfeits in the Vietnamese market.
2019 JIPA ASEAN Training Course in Vietnam ended successfully and provided JIPA trainees with more comprehensive understanding of Vietnamese IP to make a decision on development of their intellectual property for business in Vietnam in the coming years.
