According to the announcement, there have been 72 requests filed in the first half of this second year. This is an increase of approximately 9% compared to the 66 requests filed in the first half of the first year (from 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2022). Looking ahead, the IPVN has clearly stated that they will continue to receive PPH requests from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024, with a total of 128 PPH requests allowed under the PPH program.
The PPH program presents a valuable opportunity for applicants to expedite the examination process for their patent applications and benefit from the collaborative efforts between the IPVN and the Japan Patent Office (JPO). It is encouraged that organizations and individuals make use of this program to streamline their patent examination procedures and ensure the timely protection of their patent rights.
